I live in zone 6, and was given some small corns for free. They now have tiny flowers about 1 inch in diameter. My question: will the corns continue to get bigger each year? or are they doomed to be permanently tiny corns? In my zone I will need to dig up in the Fall and replant each Spring, and I’m not sure its worth the effort given how little they are. Hope you know the answer, because I can’t seem to find it anywhere. thanks 🙂

Hi Janine, so sorry for the delay in response. The brownish color stock is actually apricot in color. The photo is not doing it any justice. The coloring has hints of tans, apricots and slight yellow orange. Up against white it takes on a tan brown look. It is really a beauty and a favorite of our designers. Thank you.

Yes! the larger corm yielded a more robust plant with about 30% more marketable stems.

As always I learned much from this blog posting, and have done an abrupt adjusting to my seeding and planting plans because of what I learned from you two. My husband and I have eagerly watched every video you have made, and are implementing a blend of your no-till methods, and that of Ruth Stout, and Charles Dowding. Thank you so much for sharing and teaching us Flower Farmers better, more efficient ways to do things! As always your postings are eagerly looked forward to, and are deeply inspiring.

We don’t water the corms during presprout. we dampen the peat perlite mixture till its thoroughly damp but not so wet as to be dripping water. This for us has maintained adequate moisture.
